Spring is here and the gates at Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre are open once again — which means it’s time to dust off your wellies, round up the family, and come and meet our magnificent heavy horses.
Whether you’re planning a weekday wander or a summer day out, here’s everything you need to know about when to find us open this season.
Low Season: 21st March – 20th June & 6th September – 29th October
During our low season, we’re open daily from 10am to 3.30pm, with the exception of Fridays and Saturdays. So if you’re free on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday — we’d love to see you.
High Season: 21st June – 6th September
Summer at Hay Farm is something special. The days are longer, the yard is buzzing, and the horses are at their most sociable. During high season we’re open from 10am to 4.30pm, giving you a full afternoon to explore. We’re closed on Saturdays during this period, but open every other day of the week — including all bank holiday Mondays (excluding the festive period).
And of course, summer is when our Carriage Rides run too — every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 1pm to 3pm, weather permitting. Adults £5, children £3. No booking needed, just turn up, pay and hop on.
Planning Your Visit
Before you head out, it’s always worth checking our events calendar for any special days or seasonal activities. We also offer group visits, children’s birthday parties, and pre-bookable afternoon teas — perfect for making a proper occasion of it.
We can’t wait to welcome you. See you in the yard!
