Friday saw us have to say an extremely sad farewell to one of the most amazing horses we had the pleasure to care for. Scott joined our family many moons ago as a quirky fella to say the least, and one that had a sketchy past filled with more questions than answers. After years of work building a special bond, this horse proved to have the heart of a lion and a gentle kind soul providing us with countless hours of joy and happiness and a true partner when hitched to a cart. He would drive for hours, head held high and gave it his all. He forever kept his quirks, which made him a unique soul and all the more loveable, a favourite being his curly nostril, that always told you he wasn’t impressed! He retired with us, reaching a grand old age for a horse of his size and lived many happy years out with the herd, but unfortunately, developed a partial paralysis in his oesophagus which meant he had to eat only fresh grass and a sloppy feed- this proved to much for him to fully recover and after a turn for the worse, he kindly and respectfully crossed the rainbow bridge. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts here at hay farm and will be deeply missed by all those that cared for him. Sleep well Scottie Boy, know you were always loved deeply 💙 ... NO RIDES AGAIN TODAYAgain the mercury is soaring and the horses are sweating just coming in for their breakfast, bless them. Therefore there will be NO rides again today, as stated in a previous post the horses welfare is paramount to us, and they won’t be asked to work for entertainment in extreme heat. Love and thanks to all our wonderful supporters who understand this and also sent so many messages of support to our decision yesterday- you’re a wonderful lot and we appreciate it whole heartedly Team Hay Farm & The Boys xx ... Our mercury at the front door today reached a staggering 40 degrees! Whilst not 100% accurate it gives you an idea of the temperature in our back yard, so we wholly appreciate everyone’s understanding in our deduction to cancel today’s carriage rides- our horses welfare is our top priority. Disapointly, we did have some customers who were fairly annoyed they weren’t going ahead…. ... See MoreSee Less
